Personal growth is “the infinite frontier,” a quest without end.
Like the myriad plants that so beautifully blanket the earth, each person grows in their own way. At their own pace. Where they are.
Self-discovery is the natural precursor to personal growth.
Personal physiology influences one’s aptitude, temperament, and natural gifts (which may lie fallow until cultivated).
All behavior originates in fulfilling a need.
History is not destiny. Our past brings us to this point. It informs the present. But does not determine the future.
An individual’s behavior is largely a choice. It is influenced by personal biology, view of self (identity, perception of personal power, needs, expectations), as well as habits, the external environment, and interplay with others.
The more one’s choices are made with active awareness, the better one’s choices will be.
Exposure to information, no matter how enlightening or engaging, does not necessarily change behavior. The mind is perfectly capable of ignoring what it knows.
Personal growth often requires determination, trial, and persistence in the face of inadequate and disappointing performance.
Habits of thought and action can be the enemy of learning and growth and must be overcome by perseverance of mind and body. Even when that is hard.
